Corrosion Testing |
---|
G48A Corrosion Test at 50°C (122°F) |
Seawater corrosion test, demonstrates the absence of Sigma and otherdeleterious phases such as nitrides.Confirms practical pitting resistance rather than the theoretical PREN. |
Common Test Results |
No Pitting and weight loss <4g/m²(For 255 SD50 weight loss is <0.8g/m²) |
Impact Testing | |
---|---|
Charpy ‘V’ notch | |
Typically carried out at both roomtemperature and -46°C (-51°F) to ensure suitability for offshore applications and the absence of Sigma phase which can reduce toughness. | |
Common Test Results | |
Room Temp :250-350 J (185-260 ft.lb) -46°C (-51°F) :40-120 J (29-89 ft.lb) |
